Michael Kingdom and Company is one of the longest established firms Chartered Surveyors, based in East Anglia. Having been established in Great Dunmow in 1966. Created by Michael Kingdom, the practice has built up an enviable reputation throughout East Anglia and London – as specialists in the surveying of period property. In recent years the practice of r + s Charles Chartered Surveyors has merged into the Michael Kingdom practice.

We pre-purchase surveys for all types of housing, up to and including new houses. Our survey range is tailored to match you specific requirements.

Our team of surveyors have a wealth of knowledge and experience of all type of period property – from medieval timber-framed buildings to Arts and Craft cottages and Art-Deco houses.

We also offer advise on single defects, particularly in relation to period buildings – such as damp, timer decay, together with the assessment of defects in particular forms of historic building construction. Regional specialisation includes historic timber-framed buildings, flint built structures, period brickwork and clay-lump [mud] construction.

The partnership is entirely independent, having no financial connection with any companies such as estate agents, banks or mortgage lenders, that would compromise our impartiality and objectivity.
